Throughout high school, I was a member of the River City Review, River City High School’s monthly student newspaper. I was a staff writer my freshman and sophomore years, in my junior year, I was news editor, and in my senior year, I was editor-in-chief of the publication.
Below is a collection of the best clips from my tenure on the newspaper, which wasn’t your typical high school newspaper as it was published to the entire West Sacramento community as an insert of the West Sacramento newspaper The News-Ledger.
Please note, these do not represent my skills today, but I wanted to include them to show my history and evolution as a journalist. In high school, we were taught the basics of journalism, ethics in journalism and other such information, but we did not use AP style and were not held to a highly-professional standard like in a college or real-world setting.
