Give Sac State Day is ‘where the future begins for thousands of inspiring minds’

Originally published April 17, 2023, by Sacramento State University Communications

Give Sac State Day allows the Hornet Family and Sacramento community to support students by funding programs that empower them to become leaders and keep them on the path to graduation.

The annual 36-hour digital fundraising event runs from 5 a.m. Friday, April 21 through 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Last year, the University raised $318,908 from 1,171 gifts during Give Sac State Day. This year, organizers hope to increase the number of donations to 1,500 and raise $350,000.

Donations support programs that promote on equity, diversity, inclusivity access, academics, student resources, student housing, well-being, and much more.

Community members can use #allinforSacState on Sac State-related social media posts during the event or submit a note of support for students for a chance to earn $250 for a Sac State program of their choice.

“I love seeing where people are directing their giving to organically,” said Lisa Cardoza, vice president for University Advancement. “It shows us what our community values, what they prioritize, and where they would like to make an impact.

“I always encourage people to give to the area they love most, and there are some really amazing, meaningful opportunities this year.”
